New Access Point design concept

This is my imagination of a new access point. I couldn’t resist making it after constantly hearing that some APs look like smoke detectors  It didn’t come out that great, but I wish MikroTik’s next model would have the coolest design, while still keeping the familiar elements of its existing products

I wouldn't want the triangle patterns and the black logo/text on the ceiling of my living room though. The look should be as neutral as possible and blend in easily. Which means no colors and high contrast details!

How different are people opinions right? Many people liked it already on FB, but the patters actually are the main design element of this idea. To me it's absolutely ok to see logo/text in contrast unless everything else is ugly as hell.

The CapAC's and wAP2n's had the cover removable, and published 3d models of the attachment points, so users could 3d-print the cover-shells

the AX line has a more sophisticated antenna geometry, and higher power needs (common to all modern AX/BE silicon).
This translates to a less flexible and more involved shell design (combining RF and heat dissipation needs), so i wouldn't hope for a return-to-the-old-ways

As far as asthetics,I think that the "smoke detector" design is very stealthy and neutral, easylly concealable, and blends well with other ceiling infrastructure

I particuclarlly hate blue LED's. Green is a lot more comfortable (and less distracting)

Your design is very pretty, but for 99% of cases, customers want us not to mess with their ceiling's "vibe", and would prefer if we could make wifi "magically" go trough walls

I.E: an architecturally transparent solution

Very nice design. I also like holes on sides for ventilation. Mikrotik design team, now its your step on this.

The side pattern looks black in the rendering but iin the real thing should become (the needed) ventilation holes, once actually white on white the holes should not be so much visible.

The Mikrotik text and logo could be eventually be still white on white with a light bas-relief.

The package could contain a courtesy black marker and people willing to have them black could well paint them themselves.

I wouldn't want the blue light ring nor the 2.4/5/6 GHz lights.

Ideally there should be NO lights at all on such a device (or at least the possibility to turn them off remotely).

I would add a center hole (optionally covered by a lid) so the whole thingy can be used with a central lamp (i.e. hiding the AP in the ceiling rose), I am sure that when mounted with a lamp it would score much higher in WAF.

Version for white lovers

These are actually real ventilation holes, I covered them for ya, not to be so pronounced

You must be kidding, right?

Well, an air brush and compressor would be too expensive.

I would definitely buy this version. Looks decent. Though I would turn off led ring as first action.

LOL, or they boost the LED to get into PoE lighting ;-).

If we're adding bling, perhaps bring back the beeper too, so it be more multimedia way to annoying folks than just an LED. Who won't want to hear classics like Mario Kart via a :beep script with flashing LED overhead on all APs?

Ghastly.

Albeit, kudos for designing something you like.

Hey, nice idea! Let's combine this with intercom like this:

LED ring could be used as a night corridor lamp for kids/elders at home if only it would let proper dimming.
Full light color spectrum would let tailor it even more in bedrooms.

Best not to confound engineered lighting systems and wireless AP's, lest we be granted the Mikrotik equivalent of this heresy:
