eSIM…NICE!!!

Chateau 5G R17 ax - isn’t that essentially a Chateau 5G ax with a new modem? Not bad at all, but by 2025, it might make more sense to focus on launching 802.11be devices. But maybe there is demand for such a device as well.

We have many 802.11be devices coming, Thank you Infabo, but the 802.11be devices will be in another castle newsletter.

I know there are 802.11be devices coming soon. I’d just expected them to be announced in Newsletter #126 :innocent:

Im having a deja vu

Hmm the only MikroTik’s castle I know is the Audience :star_struck:

It makes me cry…I like Mikrotik products but the competition is producing very nice HW including central management…Mikrotik please harry up… we want to see wifi 7, central management, more wifi routers with 2,5 Gbit ports, routers with 10Gbit and 2,5 Gbit routers, switches and more 60 Ghz devices with AX wifi backup and also simple 2-4bays NAS.

Even some RB5009 form factor device with 2 or 3 nvme slots would find its buyers.

I am hoping they have 2.5Gigabit or higher ethernet ports!

Mikrotik is waiting for WiFi 8 to become standard, then they will release their be devices

Any PON OLT coming? I’ve heard some rumors but it was only “by the end of the year” without specifying which year. Note I ask specifically for the OLT (the ISP end), for use by small ISPs so we don’t have to use devices from big vendors with features locked by licenses, poor (or expensive) support, ONT vendor locks etc. (so much for open standards)

Do you really think or is this just polemic? “wifi-mediatek” package is already available. It is just a matter of months. Is 802.11be already final? However, is there already a 802.11bn draft available or any device on the market? I don’t think any competitor will launch wifi8 device before first Mikrotik wifi7 devices lands.

Is “wifi-mediatek” only for future 802.11be devices, or also 802.11ax which could be cheaper than current ones? There are already very reasonably priced Mediatek based WiFi 6 devices well supported by OpenWrt, dual-band similar to hap ax3 but price more like hap ax lite.

Well it was a joke but now serious, Mikrotik needs to up their game IMHO and keep up with the other vendors.

2.5G ethernet is a must, for eg. not just one port on ax3 or 5009, all of them. There is no 2.5G PoE switch… Why ? And i really hope that their wifi 7 device wont be dual band device with 1 Gig port…

I would like to understand why seems that Mikrotik falls behind other vendors. It’s like they don’t even try to keep up.

2.5G 8-port PoE switch either is coming soon, or was planned but cancelled. As evidence you can see some missing components on the board of the non-PoE model (CRS310-8G+2S+). It would be interesting to know which case (coming soon / cancelled) is true, but new products are usually closely guarded secret until the day they appear. I imagine there must be some NDAs at work with hefty fines for non-compliance, otherwise we’d see more leaks. If someone is listening and it’s still not too late in the design phase - please consider supporting both PoE-out and PoE-in (aka reverse PoE) on the same ports, and an outdoor version (hopefully with the heatsink not becoming loose, as outdoor may be a harsh environment, high vibration and temperature extremes).

The PCB is marked CRS310-8x+2S+ and indeed has empty places for components like power in and power out and connectors that seems to be for PoE board so yeah the idea probably was to make something like CRS310-8P+2S+ (or even PoE++ CRS310-8B+2S+), but is missing additional fan connector which may be needed.
And on average PoE switches cost roughly twice as much so in this case it would be over $400 which is pretty close to CRS320-8P-8B-4S+RM so maybe these are the reasons why MT decided against it, but if they could make it closer to TP-Link TL-SG3210XHP-M2 in price (~ $300) it would be a great product for connecting newer and faster WiFi 6+ access points…

In the meantime Ubiquiti has gone all the way up to 10Gbps PoE+++ switches and APs…
