Lot to like here. Long time complainer "to the editor": but I finally got proof-of-life on North American LTE bands. If only we could get to higher category global LTE+5G modems somewhere. But at least going in right direction!
The battery on the Fiber adapter is great idea. Won't always help since carriers often use their ONTs (without batteries), but still useful for the same problem. e.g. often the fiber POS/DEMARC is often not where the rest of the network things live, so often a separate UPS system is needed for just a few watts.
Now If only there was a hAP with battery, that like be a real seller, IMO. But some 5G device with global band support is highest on may list.
Awesome to see the first ‘proper’ generation of enterprise routers CCR3232-12DS-4DQ ( This even made my boss sit up). I know that’s harsh, but coming from a very large Cisco environment its the closest item I’v seen that, might sway the cards a bit in big organizations.
Hopefully we will see a CRS with 24/36/48 port SFP+(25/50gbe shell speed) in the near future to match the router( with proper stacking too ).
And yes, looking forward to a PoE++ 48port to match old crs354’s.
and +1 for hardware offloaded macsec( ideally 256 bit, would even make IT security finally happy( they are never happy!!) ).
As for the hAP be³, its CPU is somewhat weaker than the one in the hAP ax³ but should still be plenty for 1Gbps with PPPoE, even without having to use FastTrack.
