I am using RouterOS 7.23.2 but I have also tried earlier versions.
The router obtains an IP address with an ISP Free SIM card but not with a Bouygues SIM card, despite having a strong LTE signal.
I tried generic and specific APN ("mmsbouytel.com" without "Use Network APN"). I tried lowering the MTU following a warning in the logs but I haven't found any other errors in the LTE interface logs.
Has anyone successfully configured the LTE interface on the Chateau 5G R17 ax for Bouygues Telecom french ISP, or does anyone know how to do it?
Do you have any CPE, any router that the ISP is supplying with the internet subscription. So you can maybe see how that router is configured.
Is the SIM Card from a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), maybe there are a different APN configured.
And Is the SIM card of type nano and you using a adapter that not make the card thicker. Using myself a SIM adapter that make the card thicker.
You can't see that on the picture, but there is a window under the cutout.
I checked the CPE instructions provided by the ISP. For most of the devices, no specific configuration is required, while others use the "faibouygtel" APN—which I also tried without success.
The SIM card comes from a mobile plan and appears to be the thickness of a nano-SIM, yet the router doesn't seem to be reporting a SIM recognition error. I'll try adding a shim anyway, just in case.
Some ISP don't want you to use a router, they can detect that with the TTL, and they also slow downs the speed.
Maybe this ISP provider is like that so you have to change the TTL.
Hello, I tried modifying the TTL without success at first, but I finally managed to get an IP address using the "ebouygtel" APN and forcing the IP type to IPv4. It works now! Thanks a lot!
If i can just attach a problem from one of my friends to this post... A friend from my country is some kind of eu representative working in russia. He bought Chateau 5G R17 in EU and took it to moscov where he curently lives when he is working there.
He tried to put russian sim card in the device but it simply doesn't work. There is no useful error messages except in firmware upgrade there is a note: This firmware version is not supported in current region. RG650EEU00AAR01A04G8G_01.300.01.300
In log part i only found this:
lte1 qmi: unexpected transaction id (expected 0x86, got 0x84), dropping
lte1 qmi: unexpected transaction id (expected 0xaf, got 0xad), dropping
lte1 forced reconfiguration due to difficulty setting link up
Mobile network scan is working and shows some networks arround location.
The fix would have been setting the IP type to IPv4. Many communications providers are moving, or have moved, to IPv6-only within their networks and expect the client device to use an IPv4-over-IPv6 translation/tunnelling solution for IPv4 traffic, e.g. 464XLAT, NAT64/DNS64.
Android & iOS devices support one or more mechanisms so just work, but Mikrotik devices don't - you can manually configure DS-Lite but there is no support for other IPv6 transition mechanisms.
