OmniTik AP Bridge issue .

Hey , ive been working arround with Mikrotik for about 6 monthes with an ISP i’ve been having recently an issue configuring an OmniTik as an AP its connected directly to a routerboard and im connecting to the omni using an SXT the issue is im not sure if the configuations are done well but since i cannot ping the routerboard or even its not connecting to the internet i assume that im having an issue .
I tried googling for best OmniTik configurations but it seems none are worthy trying since its not done properly and i was wondering if could someone post like the best standard configuration for an Omni or even for a SXT station bridge so i’ll be able to use later like what is the best protocol Nstream nv2 or how to chose a proper frequency i normaly work in ranged less than 1KM and i really dont know how to configure a proper Omni .
Any help would be appreciated thank you .

I am in other problem. I have configured many OmniTik , those are working fine but the problem is some of them’s signal is ok but unable to connect by SXT or AirgridM5. Configuration is ok

There is nothing like the best config you can just take and put in. There are only general recommendations that does not have sense to repeat every time the same question is raised again and again. But I will do it for you.
You should have connection with good signal around - 50 db on both sides, snr as good as possible, at least 40 and then the rest is on ip configuration. if you need ping responses, you need to have correct addresses, routes, bridges and firewalling.

Skik ,
Maybe you should look for a better frequency with less noise or maybe you should set profile1 in security to none and add it or it could be the wireless settings like maybe you have set it as station bridge and it should be station wds or you havent configured your bridges well im not pretty sure how to help im just guessing, unless if u provide some sceenshots maybe i could assist you.

Jarda,
Thank you for your response i already know that signal DB should be between -60 and -50 no more no less and CCQ should be at least 70 % , as for yesterday im not really sure how i made my omnitik work i was surprised myself too , but the issue is how to find the best frequency to use currently im pinging from my sxt to the omnitik, whenever i see a high ping between the 2 machines ( over 4ms ) i try to change the frequency im not sure if there is another method , maybe you could recommend some protocols like for short range does nv2 works better than nstream ? or maybe how to automatically update Mikrotik firmware from server directly ( it always says failed to resolve dns i dont know how to add such stuffs ) or how to lower TX power i still cant find out how, i hear its better to lower it the closer the machine is. As for routing and ip addresses i do not quiet understand how they are bridged and made but i think i can get into that point and i always add to my firewall action > masquerade and i always add the input , output and forward so all the ports would be open BUT still i could not access my machine through IP’s from winbox wireless from the same network i have to be connected to the switch so i can access the machine its terribly annoying . But thank you again for your response .
Not to mention my RB912 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every 2 or 10 or 15 or 20 min for no reason and it have the latest firmware installed and tried resetting it and the CCQ is 100 % and the range DB is -45/-50.

Your devices support spectral scan, so do it on both sides first. Let it run for few minutes and then find the best channel (wide enough and with lowest noise). Use 802.11 only protocol with a/n wpa2/psk/aes authentication. BridgeAP on omnitik, client bridge on sxt and it should be linked together immediatelly. Then make the signal power corrections to see it linked at 300/300 mbits/s.

Use regulatory domain power regulation.

If they will not be able to connect, try to rise temporarily the transmitting power or to use more narrow band (20MHz or even the narrower).

Remove the interfaces from bridges, give them their own ips on both sides a try to send some traffic from one side to another (from wlan interface to wlan interface).

If this will work, integrate the wlans to your network scenario.

I do not believe you would get better ping times with other than 802.11 protocol.

Failing to resolve dns seems like IP misconfiguration. This is quite different topic.

Seems you have probably more than one problem and maybe your problems with wireless link are not the most important of your problems. Unfortunatelly I cannot know what is your network structure and how it is designed to work. Maybe you can make some picture and describe what exactly and on which device does not work. There are so manny errors you can do during the setting or bridging/routing, ip configuration and so that it is really impossible to tell you how to correct it without knowing anything about your network. Also, provide the export from the devices where you see the problems.

The words about masquerading and opening everything also sound strange for me.

Hope you do not use quickset and fully removed the config before you started with device configuration.

No i never use quickset, i could give you access to my RB through winbox ( read only ) so you can take a look at my structure ( not all machines would show up cause of bad configurations but still its the master rb where the bandwidth come through and out… ) and soon ill draw a structure of what i have and ill post it here for further info.

Write your skype name or icq number, I will contact you.

Otherwise it means that omnitik is the main gateway of the network and other devices should conect to it as to “home ap” and get the access to internet trhu omnitik? Am I right?
