OSPF and Disabled/Enabled Interface

Just wondering, I have came across this and was wondering if anyone else had.

Three routers connected together. Like the following:

Router1 — Router 2 — Router 3.

Router 1 and 3 have other routes to the internet connection. All are 2.9.50 564 router boards.

The link between router 2 and 3 becomes unstable so you disable the Ethernet port on router 3. OSPF does its job and now starts to route data though router 1. Upon fixing the unstable link (wireless), you re enable the Ethernet on router 3. However, router 2 and 3, now do NOT start sharing routes and do not list each other as OSPF neighbors.

A reboot of router 2, does not fix, however a reboot of router 3 does.

So the question is. If you disable a interface with OSPF routes running on it, and then re enable, does OSPF not start back up on that interface? If so, MT, is this by design or a bug.

Probably you could send supout files and description to MT support. At least i can disable/enable interfaces and ospf is still working as it should.

I’ve seen that before as well. For me, It only did it when I had the old routing package enabled. Routing-testing package solved it.

Yes, these are all routing packages as well. not the test. I was hoping to get a confirmation from MT on this.
