Personal Predictions of Upcoming Products

Out of boredom, here is my prediction of devices and software that could realistically come in 2026. Based on devices that were released in 2024/2025, as well as the general product portfolio and what was requested in the forum. (It can still be the case that some devices go more in the direction of enterprise.)

CRS:

54 Port Switch (primary successor of the CRS354-48P):

  • 48x RJ45 ports with 2.5Gbit and PoE*

  • 2x QSFP28

  • 4x SFP28

50 Port Switch

  • 48x RJ45 ports with 5Gbit or 10Gbit

  • 2x QSFP28

28 Port Switch (primary successor of the CRS326-24P)

  • 24x RJ45 ports with 5 or 10Gbit and PoE*

  • 2x QSFP28

  • 2x SFP28

26 Port Switch (primary successor of the CRS326-24G)

  • 24x RJ45 ports with 2.5Gbit and PoE*

  • 2x QSFP28

24 Port Switch

  • 20x QSFP28

  • 4x QSFP-DD

Above all, switches should have hot-swap PSUs.

* Each in a version with PoE and without PoE

APs and other Devices:

RB4011 successor (RB6010):

  • 2x 10Gbit RJ45 ports (first and last port)

  • 8x 2.5Gbit RJ45 ports

  • Instead of the SFP+ port, one or two M.2 bays/slots for ROSE

  • Optional: WiFi 7 with 2x chains for 2GHz and 6GHz each, 4x chains for 5GHz

cAP be:

  • 2x 5Gbit or 10Gbit RJ45 ports / 1x port with 10Gbit could also be possible

  • 2x chains for 2GHz and 4x chains each for 5GHz and 6GHz

wAP be:

  • 2x 2.5Gbit RJ45 ports

  • 2x chains each for 2GHz and 5GHz, no 6GHz radio

hAP be:

  • 4x 2.5Gbit RJ45 ports

  • 1x 10Gbit RJ45 port

  • 1x SFP+ port

  • 2x chains each for 2GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz

Software:

This would make for an RB5010.
And i think an RB4011 update would be the RB5009. so next step would be RB6009/10/11 or how many interfaces it will have.

I am missing a successor of CRS112 8-port PoE switch with a much faster CPU.

I think the CRS310 and CSS610 are the β€œsuccessors” of the CRS112. The CSS610 has PoE but runs SWOS Lite and is bigger then the CRS112 (the case is the same from CRS310 but wider 70mm more). The CRS310 is more powerful and has 2.5Gbit Ports but without PoE

Away from the top end, I am missing a mAP and mAP lite with higher speeds on wireless and internet. 1 Gb/s and AX WiFi would be fine. Trouble is, I love the size and form of the existing models, and I doubt the heat generated for those speeds can be managed within them. Essentially the mAP Lite would be a hAP AX Lite with one port and the mAP an ax2 with two ports and you can see the work done to dissipate heat on those models.

Currently for travel I choose between a mAP and an ax2, more often the latter. On the other hand it was just yesterday that I took out my two spare mAP Lites, upgraded the ten-year old designs to ROS 7.20.6 and installed them to communicate with a temporary camera. Speed is sufficient so job done perfectly.

Would love a 48 port SFP/SFP+ switch, with 4 x 100G

Yes, thats why i am keen of having β€˜new’ crs112: compact, poe driven, if possible Ros and not Sw OS. But I am affraid that there would be no new crs112 kind of device.

it would be interesting the mAP 2nD ax
