PPPoE Limitation

Hi everyone,

We are planning a large PPPoE deployment with thousands of concurrent users, using remote RADIUS authentication.

Our current challenge: the number of MikroTik routers in our data center keeps increasing, causing rack space limitations and high management overhead, as maintaining each router as a separate PPPoE concentrator is becoming difficult.

We are looking for advice on:

  1. Recommended MikroTik hardware for large-scale PPPoE deployment.

  2. Scalable designs or architectures that can efficiently handle thousands of sessions.

Any suggestions, best practices, or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Do not use only one device to do it all.

CHR on a decent server with some passthrough NICs. Plenty of RAM and CPU cores assigned to the CHR.
