Being that 2.9 was now in RC status, I decided to would give it a whirl. The only problem I am seeing is that my PPTP connection between my two mikrotik boxes will not work now. The other side is a 2.8.21 box. The connection was working fine before the upgrade, and now it just says initalizing, dialing, terminating, disconnected. But when in the connection itself, it does show as link established for a short period of time.
Any Ideas here?
My experience, take a working 2.8 setup and upgrade to a recent 2.9beta, security settings don’t upgrade and you have to delve in and sort things out manually.
No criticism implied - the new security features are much more sophsticated - you just have to be aware.

I tried to delete the pptp connection and recreate it. After doing this, I get the same actions. What other security settings would cause something like this? It honestly looks like some type of bug if you ask me…
Well I never tried PP2P …
… but my over-riding sense is that upgrades from 2.8.x to 2.9betas don’t always go smoothly.
Doing a clean install of 2.9 is generally fine though.
That’s over having upgraded 8-10 units from various 2.8 versions to various 2.9 betas in the last month or so.

our vpn connects then before it can authenicate id kicks the connection . in be 19 worked great
tried unistalling ppp package and reinstalling no workie. what up guys.
we are connecting from windows workstation to MT VPN using PPTP no authenication . sound like a setting issue somewhere.
no i got a wierd one i can connect to one of our MT’s from outside the network. but cannot connect thru another
ie-1. xp pro - MT - outside network - MT (vpn PPtp server) wont connect i get kicked out as soon as MT shows my ip address tcp 47 then byebye
ie-2. xp-pro - dlink router - outside network -MT(vpn PPTP server) connects fine
ie-3 windows 2000 server - outside network -MT(vpn pptp server ) same as ie-1
ie-4 xp-pro box -outside network - MT (vpn pptp server) connects fine
the xp-pro box is my test notebook using vpn with no security works fine just need it to work from withing our other networks . it i connect directly outside to a static ip works fine .
what should i be looking for to find out where or what i am missing.
