Problem with upgrading RB911G-5HPnD

Hi,
I first resetted a RB911G-5HPnD then I uploaded the new routerOS file (routeros-mipsbe-6.49.npk) via Winbox to upgrade the system.
It seemed that everything had gone well, but when I launched the firmware upgrade in winbox something happened.
I now can’t login into the system and the little green led lights are constantly on.
What happened, and how can i fix it?
Thanks

Netinstall the device to an earlier version 6.48.x, don’t keep the old configuration and then return the firmware to that earlier version.

I tried it, but I think it is useless as long as it can’t see the device. Furthermore, the routerboard makes a strange sound regularly.
Thanks

The same as when rebooting ?
The fact you can not see the device through Netinstall can easily be due to wrong steps of the Netinstall procedure.
I 've recently net install a couple of devices after firmware upgrade to 6.49

I even can’t reboot. The led lights being constantly on is a bad sign that I probably bricked it.

If you can upload a video that shows how you try to do the netinstall would very helpful.

Regards.

I followed these steps:

http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/new-rb951g-2hnd-bricked-solved-with-netinstall/70728/1

Take a look here: https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/Netinstall

What concerns me the most is the fact that my network card, in Windows network properties, says that there is no network cable plugged
So, I think that there is no way for Netinstall to do its job if it can’t see the device.

Keep the windows Network Connection Window open during the Netinstall process and check if the connection state of your network card changes…

Keep reset button pressed until flash appears on Netinstall.
Remember disable ALL your virtual interfaces on Windows (Virtual wireless, VMware, VirtualBox, etc.).

Regards.

actually there is not a reset button. The first time, I had to reset it as this guy does in this video:

Thanks

So, instead of press the button since you don’t have it, maintain the short circuit until flash appears on Netinstall. With 2 minutes is left over.

Regards.

I’ll give it another go tomorrow. I’ll let you know. Thanks

by the way,
in the guide here:
https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/Netinstall

they set 192.168.88.2 as the pc ip address (gateway 192.168.88.1)

so, what 192.168.88.3 in network booting setting of netinstall is for?

The gateway is not needed really. The important is that the IP’s of your computer and the network booting on Netinstall stays on the same subnet.

Regards.

It’s IP address offered to device being netinstalled.

I tried it several times. Same; nothing happens. Just a crackly sound every 7 seconds or so.
I’m afraid that it has gone to hell for good

Are you sure there is no reset button ?

No reset button. I already did a reset and it worked perfectly the first time. The issue popped up with the firmware upgrading.

I did it finally!

Well, yes there is a reset button too…I think it is at least.
I can access the routerboard with winbox now! Thanks
