This is my first post on here and I would like to thank all of you in advance for all your help! I have been working with Mikrotiks and routerOS for a little over a year and have become a big fan. On to the fun!
What I would like to do is utilize 2 router OS devices in my house.
The first is a CRS125-24G-1S-2HnD-IN. The CRS125 has my WAN connection on ETH1 and the rest of the ports are in a bridge. In that bridge in my PC, some laptops, and servers hosting AD/DNS/DHCP. I also had a Ubiquity but I am trying to remove that with the setup I am inquiring about today. All DHCP is handled by a server, which is actually a VM on my PC.
The second is a RB Metal 2SHPn. This device is new (to me) and has had the config wiped.
My goal is to have a point-to-point between the Metal and the CRS125. ALSO I would like each end (the metal and the CRS125) to host the Chicken_Noodle_Soup wireless network. I want hosts to connect to whatever AP they are closest to and transition between. The reason for the PTP is because I do not have ethernet ran across my house and need to extend my wireless. I need the devices to pull DHCP and all from my 192.168.11.0 network that the server leases out. Basically I need the APs on both ends to be on the same network, with the PTP connecting them.
I have set up both WLAN interface, one in AP Bridge mode and one in station mode and they connect. I assigned IP addresses to both WLAN interfaces and can ping across. I then created a virtualAP on both ends and created the same security profiles. I can connect on the CRS125 fine but from the Metal I can not ping beyond the PTP IP’s. I created a default route on the metal and pointed it out the WLAN PTP interface.
One of my weakest areas is wireless. Especially when it comes to modes and specific settings so please be clear. It would be really great if you could check out my configs and offer some advice. Please don’t just tell me what settings need changed, I want to learn why as well. I added both configs. I think the only thing I removed in my WAN IP and replacd it with “WAN_IPADD” and passwords with “**********”
Again, I appreciate any help!
