R52Hn for a 2.4ghz AP

Hi there,

I installed at a site yesterday a R52Hn configured on b/g/n 2.4ghz 2412 to be a access point bridged to the internet with security.

When doing a scan on the unit, i was getting very erratic signal strengths coming from other units, spiking up to -10db. I made sure i was using the correct antenna connector/chain.

Is there any reason why it would do it and is this card suited for 2.4ghz client access or is it specifally designed for PtP or PtmP 2.4/5 links?

No it should work fine as an AP. -10 is way too strong. You may want to turn it down if that is in your operating range.

r52hn does show erratic signal with non-mikrotik cpe’s. which one r u using. i wld suggest the 711 -2 series as cpe. the work well. r52hn is gr8 when using “n” and nv2 protocol

We have set up a ton of APs this way and have never had an issue. Haha only lightning…

r u using the 2 ghz “n” mode?

Sorry i’m meaning that when doing a scan, and looking at another mikrotik hotspot at the same site, with a WLM54AGP23 card i can see it at -62 and only moves around 2-3db, but with the R52Hn card, it can see it at 65, and is very erratic and moving around up to 75ish db

Yes, b/g/n. Should i just try b/g?

i am sorry ..that question ws for cbrown.
but daniel u did not tell me abt wht cpe r u using n wht distance cos - 10 is wht u get on a bench test, not otherwise
my exp. with r52hn tells that it works good with “n” cpe & nv2 protocol & dual chains. else u can use the r52H

Some places we are but most places we are not.
