If it is -36dB, it is too strong. You will have all sorts of problems. You need to move farther away or drop the tx power on both sides until it is in -50 to -60 range.
2.4GHz-B/G
Frequency 2412 Antenna Mode a Gain 0
Register AP client (my pc) Signal Strength -52 dBm SNR 48 dB
Tx/RxCCQ (20 - 70)% with almost no load and rang is less with load
Wlan is ubiquiti SR2.
the card is beside me and I sent previous information with no antenna on card.
if I connected antenna -dBm increase largely ( reach -30dB) but CCQ remain low, and even if I go far away till -db reach 50-60 dB, CCQ remain low.
I’m using a small antenna (about 40cm) to cover a range of about 200-150m.
there are other 2.4Ghz wifi around main one with channel 3, I tried different channels no luck.
It is late here, or really early I should say, so forgive me if I’m a bit short.
Running an SR2 without an antenna can fry the amp. This may be your problem. It sounds like it. Do you have any other cards to try?
The laptop cards, 19dBm and under, can usually survive without an antenna, though it is certainly not recommended to run like that for long. The higher power cards, SR2, XR2, R52H, R52Hn, R5H, SR5, XR5, etc, will not last long at all without an antenna connected.
Ok then to not making it long, what is your recommendation. I have about 30 pc in rage of 150meter in separated rooms.
do you recommend a specific interface card with RB433AH with low power, and can I ask why it want last long, or maybe you recommend a new device.
It is going to be very difficult to cover that kind of area through walls. You might as well go with a low power card, R52, R52n, WLM200NX and 9dBi antennas or better.
You will probably need several AP’s throughout the area. The high power card + a good antenna will get the signal to the clients, but won’t receive the clients as well. Might as well save your money on the cards and spend it on antennas.
I’ve done this for several hotels covering much less distance. Depending on exactly how far, building materials, etc, you are looking at at least 5 access points.
ok, I have order an R52 interface to test it, meanwhile there is no way to decrease SR2 power and use it for such purpose as I understand, but I have about 500meter antenna that I check resently and have the same problem (-36 strength power) thus is there is a way to decrease the power to make it work for such distance ?
In Winbox, go to wireless, click advanced, go to the tx power tab, choose card rates and put in a lower number than default shows. If you put in a higher number you will likely damage the card.
