I’ve got RB450G connected to gigabit switch with ether1 interface.
Ether1 is configured as native for mpls connection with mtu=1522.
Everything works well until I not put vlan on this interface.
After ether1 has vlan added outgoing speed decrease to about 6Mbps, incoming works well.
ROS version 4.7
firmware 2.26
Switch Linksys SRW224G4
And some funny stuff:
When I connect ether2 to this same switch, to port assigned to this same vlan but untagged, and do not set any address on it, ether1 interface starts work well about 700 Mbps udp bandwidth test.
While bandwidth test is running ether2 receive strange arps (know cause use sniffer) about 1kbps and send from time to time mt discovery broadcast.
Disabling neighbor discovery on ether2 make ether1 connection speed low.
After I enable neighbor discovery on vlan and disable on ether2 connections speed on whole ether1 do not change – steel is low.
Sorry but I do not understand what’s going on. Why neighbor discovery is so important to keep good quality cable connect ? Why vlan prevent neighbor discovery broadcasting ?
It is not only bandwidth test problem but this interface works really bad. But was worse on ROS 4.5 – I couldn’t even login to the routeroboard.
