rb100 models

what os version runs best for rb100 models

as 3.25,3.26,3.27,3.28 all seem slow
looks like the board is not fast enuff for it

can any one help with this

im only using pppoe on the 100 series

I’ve hundreds of CPE’s out there using RB 133c on 3.2x and they all perform very well.

if i flash and reload and go system routerboard print it ses v 2.12

but if i had os 3.28 on it it ses v 2.18

which 1 will be the best 2.12 oe 2.18?

any ideas

I've had strange effects using 3.x on 133c. Disconnecting winbox, poor performance,...
Any special treatment to make it work stable and fast??

Wish I could tell you there was, but there is no strage voodoo involved on my network. It just works.

Heres an example of an older link that still uses an RB133 (We’ve mostly replaced them all now with RB433AH’s). It consists of an RB133 with a CM9 radio in it. It runs on ROS 3.23, and is located on the roof of our datacenter, and handles the traffic for approx 40 clients 7 miles away. Average throughput is around 15mbit/s. There is a simple queue on there for each client, and a bandwidth monitoring script which runs every 30 minutes to update a server within our core network with stats.

The reason I’m telling you all this, is because although that board is incredibly lightweight, it never runs above 20% CPU and has been in operation for about 3 years now without a hitch. We haven’t replaced it simply because it has never given us a moments trouble. As i’ve already said, we have hundreds of CPE units out there using RB133c’s and CM9’s and they all run very efficiently.

The only time i’ve had any issues with random disconnects has always been down to an unstable link (usually packet loss due to local interference) or because there has been a managed switch in the way, that does funky stuff with the MAC layer (only affects MAC winbox sessions)

112s and 133cs are both running great on 3.27. Feels just like the old days on 2.9, except we now have the new feature set.

Not sure exactly where the improvement happened, but 3.16 and 3.17 were both slow with dynamic routing protocols enabled, and 3.27 is fine. We are standard on 3.27 currently.

133 is fine but 133c is not fint what 133 are you talking about!


as i had to go to over 20 133c and formatnand via serial as it just froze up with 3.27

But if you install 3.27 after that it should wokr? The problam probably was an update-procedure problem.

so what reload it with the cable and netinstall

I’ve checked 3.27 on RB112 and RB133c now. Seems to work much better
than the earlier 3.x-Versions (testet 3.23).
Upgraded this way:
2.9.x → 2.9.51 , Firmware Upgrade, 2.9.51 → 3.27, Firmware Upgrade, Disabled unneeded Packages

That’s what we’re finding with 3.27. A huge difference. Makes them usable again.
