I have an RB1100 operational for several years with out a problem.
Last sunday after a severe storm, apeared completly off. After unplug/plug it boot ok, but then I realized that interface eth12 doesn’t work. That interface was connected to cable modem.
Both led on interface ACT/LNK are fixed on.
Winbox don’t show the interface.
Command interface ethernet also don´t show the interface
There is a way to recover that dissapeared interface or may be is a hardware failure by weather conditions?
I’d say it’s dead. (lights staying on whenever you disconnect something is quite telling)
Fortunately, anything in your config that referenced the now-missing interface will be red, and easily spotted so you can move everything to a new interface without a lot of hassle.
Be sure to check:
IP dhcp client (or pppoe-client if that’s the way it connects)
IP addresses
IP routes
IP firewall (all tabs / all chains)
For a WAN interface, that’s usually where most things will be - but you should thoroughly check everything.
