Hello
Our company has a wireless network built with a RB2011UiAS-RM and 6 pcs RBcAP2n.
This night we had a power outage and after the power came back, the RB2011UiAS-RM did not boot anymore.
It starts the boot procedure but stops at the step “Starting services”
This Routerboard also has an LCD display, but I have only the logo and the “Starting services” text on it, no matter how much I wait.
I tried powering it off, wait and powering back, but did not help.
I would try a serial console connection, but I have no console cable.
I could also try to reset it, maybe it starts after, but I don’t have the configuration saved and there was some work building that configuration.
Tried connecting with Winbox, based on MAC, but it doesn’t connect ( I have the mac printed on the box). Also tried to allocate a static IP in the range that the router’s DHCP server gives, and connect based on IP but that does not work either.
Could somebody please help to get back my Routerboard?
It was not a physical damage.
I built a serial console cable and connected to RouterBoard with an SSH client (putty).
Communication seemed to be OK and after trying to save configuration, I used netinstall.
That probably wasn’t a bright idea, because from the start it formatted the partition and left me with a working RouterBoard but an empty configuration.
The only settings I was able to save was the text output of the command export but it did not contained all the settings.
In the end I started from scratch and I made a new setup (of course after updating all 6 access points).
I don’t know what happened but it was not normal.
I suggest you configure a scheduled backup to be sent on an email address so that even if you have similar problems in the future you won’t have to re-configure the whole router from scratch.
