Hallo,
I have a RB4011 (Wifi) main router and to it (on port 5) i have connected CRS112 switch with port SFP9. With a simple configuration:
All ports are in bridge, in addresses a static adress is set on sfp9 port and ip/route 0.0.0.0/24 on gateway (RB4011) (link negotiation is 1G)
I have noticed that if i do a bandwith test from one to another i get speed lower than 100mbps.. (also tryed with ether 1 on CRS112)
My PC is connected to the CRS112 switch on Port 2.. if do speed test i get around 900mbps.
Also if i do bandwith test between my main router and AP i get much higher speeds.
Can anyone please tell me what could be the reason? i presume the problem is with CRS?
CRS yes but mostly due to your way of testing.
If you do bandwidth test from CRS112 to RB4011 and want to have relevant results, you are doing it wrong.
Bandwidth test (If we’re talking about tools - bandwidth test) is VERY resource intensive. Resources which CRS112 does not have. RB4011 will have a lot less of a problem with it. CRS112, well … you see what you get.
You can observe this also watching CPU load. I am betting the CPU (it only has 1 core) will be a 100% on that CRS. And then you’re done.
When testing, always go THROUGH the devices to be tested. Never from or to.
And that’s why you get higher results on those other tests. You’re not loading that CRS with unnecessary stuff.
