RB450G problem - system,eror

Hello ,

I have a problem with my RB450G , for 9 months it was working very grate , know i have some problems , think it is hardware. The RB becomes unavailable after 2-4 heures of working , and i must hardware reset it with unplug it from power , after i get in terminal this: system, error, critical System rebooted because of kernel failure

I have Router os 4.17 (because that is the legacy) on the RB450G and i have a bandwidth of 30Mb up/down with a subnet of 128 public IP’s. I have just a few simple queue and some firewall ruls.

What is wrong with the RB ?
Please help me …
Best Regards,
Vlad

You could open it and have a look on you capacitors.
Beyond that… I have no idea, except watching serial console if you have some more explicit message before rebooting.

Hello, today i have open it up and i saw that the capacitor from around the source plug (jack 5.5mm) , the top of it , it’s a little deformed , i will send it Monday to the reseller because it is in warranty period.

Last time i forgot to mention that i se at system - > resources that i have 0.1% (in 5.14) or 0.1 in 4.17 Bad Blocks i thik that’s why it crash’s.

After it comes back from reseller i will be back and tell about the solution .

Thank you very much elgo !

This is “normal”, flash is almost never error free, even from start. Device should be able to deal with it, as do hard disk drives for ages now

You’re welcome.
Don’t forget karma, if problem is solved after RMA

hello ,

Yesturday i had recived the RB450 , i will test it in this week end , the reseller changed the capacitor from power plug at my request and testit too , i will be back with updates Monday.

Thanks!

Hello elgo , the RB450G it’s working greate ! The problem was solved , with tha capacitor from the power plug and with upgrade to RouterOS V5.14.

Best regards,
Vlad

We are seeing the same types of problems on RB433 and RB411 as well.

Seems that power off without shutdown causes NAND corruption. At some point the corruption gets to critical system files and causes failure.

Looks to be a fairly serious problem.
