RB493G acting as a switch - high cpu

Hello

I have read and read but still am not understanding how to make my rb493G act as a regular switch. Example is running 5.2 and cleared the configuration

Then setup ether2 as a master port and ether 3 as slave

Connected my pc to ether 3 and fired up bandwidth tester on my pc.

Problem is that the speed tests on tcp are only getting ~120mb before the cpu on the mikrotik shoots to 100%; these speeds should be much higher, correct?

Any ideas what the problem could be? I would love to try to use these additional ports as a regular gigabit switch but this is my hurdle

thanks

correction; if I use tcp I get ~500mb speeds; so my question now comes to what speed should I expect before the cpu goes to 100% on the RB493G?

Try 5.3 - it contains improvements in that regard at least for other models, yours might also see improvements. If not, email support@mikrotik.com.

Thanks; i didn’t realize 5.3 was out already; i see there is a post mentioning there is a bug and will be fixed shortly so I will wait before trying it and will report back

thanks

ROS 5.3 has a Ethernet problem on RB4xx boards with the links flapping, be warned

Just installed 5.4. So what is a good number to get on the UDP and TCP bandwidth testing directly connected to a port on the 493G?

I’m getting 110Mbps on tcp and 500Mbps on UDP

Thanks
