Can someone please clarify if it is possible to rack mount the RB5009UG+S+IN in a 10" rack ?

At first sight I would say it can be done since the standard 19" rack mount kit can be adjusted.
I took a (rough) measurement on the breaking places on my mounted RB5009 (mounted in a 19" frame) and it comes out at just shy of 25.5 cm, that’s 10".
If you want to be 100% sure, ask support so they can confirm (or not).

RB5009 does not fit in the 10" rack using the K-79 kit.
However, there are some customer reports that it can fit in the 10" rack using the short ears of the K-79 kit, but it is a snug fit. Per the 10" rack specification its inside width is 222.25mm, but the RB5009 including rack ears is 225mm wide ( its 2.75mm wider). The only option is to make some small modifications to the rack to create wider space for the device.
Let's say that It fits snugly/tightly in most 10" racks with large tolerance but not in all of them, particularly those that are more robust and respect exactly the specs.
Your mission, should you accept It, Is to procure a file (not the thing that you put in a directory, the tool) and pass It a few times on both sides of the vertical beams of the rack, removing approximately 1.4 mm on each side (possibly a little less) for the whole height of the ears.
You will also need a tiny amount of paint of the same or similar colour of the rack, though your terribile, uneven work done with the file will be covered by the ears, with a little paint retouch will be less visibile and won't rust.
