RB600 missing from Routerboard.com

Hi,

Any idea why the RB600 is missing from routerboard.com website?
Got me a bit worried there …

Rgds,
Mark.

It has been superseded by the RB800

RB600 EOL, production end, replace with RB800

Hi,

Thank you for the info.
Hope the RB800 proves as reliable as the RB600 was …

Rgds,
Mark

Many distributors and dealers still have RB600A boards in stock so you can load up on them if you desire.

FWIW The RB800 looks like a great follow up to the RB600A. The only thing that would make me nervous for long term reliability is the CPU fan.

Tom

My feelings exactly.

We install these mostly on outdoor AP units and that means we regularly get 45 Deg C temperatures on them - externally.

Moving parts are usually the first to fail and if the RB800 uses a fan for normal operation then I only forsee problems with this.

Rgds,
Mark.

My feeling, too.

is the fan watch by snmp ? So i can see, the fan is dead.

It works perfectly without fan. We tested it with a heatsink for more than 24 hours at full load. The temp was higher, but it worked no problem. So if you want, you can replace the fan with some kind of heatsing (the bigger the better).

Hi normis,

ok this are good news.

Thx

When you need info or spec…
there is

http://www.routerboard.com/comparison.html

You tested the Rb800 on temperature of your country, right?
Here where we installed RBs, the temperature ranges from 30 to 47°C.

Are you sure that without the cooler, even installing a larger heatsink, will still work considering a box with no ventilation?

also http://www.routerboard.com/comparison_archive.html

sorry we have not tested in such harsh environment specifically with no fan. you will have to test. in any case, ANY hardware should have some cooling mechanism at +40C

RB600A:
-20°C to +65°C

RB800
-75℃ to +65℃

Considering the specifications, the temperature range for my case will be the same.
And the RB600 has worked very well.

But using logic, to use a higher processor clock, the rb800 hotter than the 600A. You can confirm this?

PS: the RB600 reappeared in the list of routerboard.com

The RB800 is very tough temperature wise, as you posted yourself. Those temperature ranges are not just theoretical values, we have a temperature chamber where we actually test the boards with data running, at those temperatures. RB800 is the thoughest of them all. But, we tested with the cooler on, so hard to say the Max without the cooler.

It would be great mikrotik sell replacements for this cooler as a spare part

I’m not exactly sure how the RB800 can be a replacement for the RB600 when it costs twice as much!! Those things had better come down in price big time if RB600’s really do go EOL. You have any info on this Normis?

Thanks,

Jason

If RB1100 is to be $380 - case - switch chip - bypass - psu - cost of assembly, shipping and extra QC = RB800 for $250…I think

Only problem is, RB800 costs almost $350. Whereas the rb600 can be had for less than $200.

Is there any chance the price will go down on the RB800 now that the RB600 is pretty much out of stock everywhere?
