RB604 & bus contention

A while back, I read that there was a limit to how many miniPCI cards of a certain type could be installed together on an RB604 daughterboard without causing (bus?) contention. I don’t remember the details, except that it pertained to one of the then-newer 802.11n chipsets, and that the limit was two such radios before contention would occur.

I have been unable to find this information again, either on the MT forum or via a general web search. Does this ring a bell with anyone else? Was there ever such a limitation? If so, was it fixed? Or did I misunderstand the original post?

For the record: I just now discovered that this limitation applied to the RB564 daughterboard, not the RB604.

  • “Note: You can not use more than two AR5414 chipset (e.g. R52) cards in RB/564. If you want to use three or four miniPCI cards in RB/564, you should use other chipset based radios for those extra slots, like CM9. For example, two R52 + two CM9 is OK, four CM9 is also OK, but not three or four R52.”
