Failover (WAN Backup)
This is a basic failover guidance document, where no other traffic is involved or discussed ( no LAN servers, no VPN etc…) just two wans and a LAN.
I see two major problems on this doc:
- Why does MT bring up MANGLING. To me this is confusing for the new beginner and not required.
- Even if mangling was required, which it is not, the other error is having both mangle chains as OUTPUT? The connection-marking chain should be PRE-ROUTING
Please correct my thinking if I am off base. I am quite happy to be wrong!!

Note: I also take issue with their first example when they use the same source GOOGLE for checking both ISP1 and ISP2. Truer redundancy ( yes I know the IPs are different but still ) would be to use a different IP (dns provider) for connectivity. At least they do so, use a different source for a second check on each ISP, but again its the same company - different ISP… sigh…
