Hi everyone…
I’ve been working for a while with RouterOS and RB951-2n … And I have some questions:
It’s time to install diferents routers (more than 100) in diferents places. I wold like to know wich is the best option to get remote connection to all of them.
I have a dinamic IP but solved with no-ip… A don’t know if configure a OVPN Client or PPTP Client … and how to identify each router. I setup VPN server on my
computer and connect with PPTP with mikrotik but in the net connections apears WAN Miniport PPTP with a user conected … if i do the same with 10 or 20 routers how
to identify each on … Wich is the best option ?
At the moment I am working with RB951-2n but the Wifi coverage is not really good. Is there any way to amplify the signal or to connect two RB951-2n to repeat the Wifi ? I tried to
configure like station bridge but i don’t know what is doiing… I’m working with hotspot and with a repeater the hotspot gets crazy and don’t change ok the connection from one to other router…
Next week i’ll get 2xRB/951Ui2HnD and 2xRB/2011UIAS-2HnD … with the 951Ui2HnD can I setup two wifi interface one for hotspot and the other one for private use ? same with 2011UIAS ?
To answer question#1
I prefer to create separate user accounts for each tunnel, just to solve that problem. Each router will be identified by its user account. That’s really the easiest and best way I’ve found. As far as which tunnel to use, that depends on your needs, but I use OVPN when I have the chance.

It is possible to use a MikroTik as a “wireless extender” as long as both devices are MikroTik. You will have to use WDS mode to accomplish that. If you do a search for WDS, there are a ton of examples.
Continuing tan point. What’s best… to configure all my routers … Restore Backup (that some times does’t work fine … rename wlan1 with wlan2) or do an import (what about the mac?)
Then i have to resotore with my configuration and assign a user to each router manually… and then create it in the VPN Server … buff lots of work …
You should never copy a backup from one router to another. Some times that does appear to work OK, but it will always cause problems in the long run. The best way is use the export feature to copy settings back and forth. The backup file does copy MAC address and that can very problematic. You’re right, you will have to create them manually, but it won’t be as bad as think. Once you get going, they’ll go pretty quick.
In the topic you shared, they start off the thread, presumably, about a non-mikrotik to mikrotik scenario. In that configuration, a “repeater” is not possible. However, in a MikroTik WDS scenario, it is and there is some good info in that thread. I thought earlier that we were talking about a MikroTik to MikroTik solution, which is why I suggested WDS.
Yes, you can. You can create as many as Virtual APs as you like.
Hi,

Ok on Windows 7 i can see new connection… Can’t see properties, with ipconfig PPP RAS Ip: 192.168.100.10.
From Windows 7 i want to connect to mikrotik 192.168.100.12 Winbox doesn’t get automatically the router and i don’t know how to know the local address from router (192.168.100.12) from Windows 7 …
