TNX!!! Should I fill the rest of the flash with FF or 00? Is there any data of MTD partitions size for ROS 7? OTP and registers leave unchanged?
Am I correct in understanding that when the microchip was replaced, the license remained in place because the software ID did not change?
Please specify the version of the factory firmware, as there is a suspicion that the method of generating the software ID has changed somewhere. Previously, in the dump, in the Hard section, the RB_ID_SOFTWARE_ID tag 0x0A contained the last 4 bytes of the serial number, followed by some other number.
Only CHR licenses can be transferred; x86 licenses cannot be transferred. You can always download the original license in your personal account on the website using the known serial number and software ID.
No, the licence is tied to a "serial" or UID that is burned in factory in a later read only area of the chip in factory, see:
Note: If this key is for x86 system, you are allowed to change 2 characters in Software ID for free if you made a typing mistake and the key is not upgraded yet. Please check and fix software ID before enabling CF or upgrading, otherwise you will not be able to change it later. You will be charged accordingly when upgrading.
Please note that replacing the flash will change the Software ID, resulting in the loss of the existing license. Repairs performed by end-users are not supported, and if you choose to carry out such repairs, you assume full responsibility for any consequences, including license loss.
However, you will still have the option to purchase a new license key.
The posts above discussed selecting a chip that contains a "serial number" (UID field). Router OS generates a license linked to this number. This number can be either on a flash drive or on a hard drive. If this number isn't present (for example, on the flash drives I used for the first time), Router OS generates a new license on the next reboot. I can't verify how this mechanism works now (on newer versions of Router OS). I've experimented with firmware versions 6 and 7 up to 7.20.
Thanks. I already knew that⦠I spent some money to get this information:)

Ok. Done.
I tried to install 64MB Nor flash W25Q512JVEIM, but router (HAP AC2) canāt get Netinstall mode, then I change it to 32MB W25Q256JVEIQ - router started normally and switch to Netinstall mode. After installing ROS 7.21.1 total memory is 32MiB.
IPQ4018 canāt work with SPI more then 32MB?
Let me start by saying I'm not an expert.
What's the difference between W25Q512JVEIM and W25Q512JVEIQ?
Maybe it works with W25Q512JVEIQ...
Original chip is W25Q128JVSMā¦
I also tried switching to another flash drive with a size of 64 MB. It didn't work for me. I couldn't find information about the maximum supported size for this processor.
That's maybe the reason why Chateau LTE12 2025 only got a 32mb flash upgrade (instead of more).
The document āIPQ40x8 and 40x9 Software User Guideā in section 13 contains only two NOR flash memory layouts: Premium 32MB and Standard 16MBā¦.
IPQ4019 also supports NAND memoryā¦
Indeed, there are several one like hap ac3 with 128mb nand. But there is also IPQ4019 with 64mb flash: https://mikrotik.com/product/cube_60pro_ac
Can you check the Cloud DDNS service after replacing flash and installing new license?
Yes, everything works.
I performed the same steps on the RB5009, but it has an ATF partition, which appears to be linked to the SPI. Has anyone had experience replacing the NAND or SPI on the RB5009?
