Resetted my RB450G but can't get it to work again

Hi all

I got an RB450G router. I resetted it but now I cannot connect to it. I am connecting a laptop directly to its ETH2 port. The laptop is set to DHCP and its getting an IP and even sets up the gateway from the DHCP of the router. These are the IPs leased:

LAPTOP: 192.168.88.254
GW: 192.168.88.1

Funny thing is that I cannot ping the router even though its getting an IP!! Its not coming up on Winbox either…usually I could detect it even if I had a different IP scheme set…Can someone advise the correct way how to clear the router completely? ie bring it to factory defaults?

Thanks!

Try to access it via the serial console. Username should be ‘admin’ with a blank password.

For a hardware triggered reset see the board manual: http://routerboard.com/pricelist/download_file.php?file_id=143

Software Reset
It is possible to reset all software configuration by short-circuiting the reset-hole during the power-up (see
ROS reset in layout diagram). No confirmation or passwords will be asked, so use with caution. This feature
can be disabled in the “system routerboard settings” menu by switching the “enable-jumper-reset”
parameter to “no”.

The reset jumper hole is near the SD card holder but not on the back of the board. See page 3 in the manual linked above for a layout graphic.
