ROS not working on IBM server from 3.5 - any news on 3.18?

Ros is not working on IBM Xeon server from version 3.5 onwards. Due to an incompatibility in the kernel version that ROS adopted in version 3.5 with these servers.

From the changelog of version 3.18 it says:

*) updated drivers & kernel - fixed fast clock issue on x86;

Anybody test if the problems are gone? I have only one IBM Xeon server freezed in ROS 3.4 and it is in production so it is no easy for me to make tests with it.

Thanks.
Esteban

many IBM servers work in all ROS versions, you need to write exactly which model is not working for you, which motherboard model

Normis:

From an older post.

http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27111&start=0&hilit=ibm+server

Intel Xeon Dual Core E3110 (3.0GHz/1333MHz FSB, 6MB DC)
Chipset Intel 3210
1GB of RAM Unbuffered PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR II ECC (non-Chipkill)
250 GB SATA Disk (disk directly attached to serverboard SATA port, not using a SAS/SATA RAID card)
Video controller ATI Radeon ES1000 32MB SDRAM
Broadcom 5722 Gigabit Ethernet

Using Netinstall, disk is recognized formatted and software installed. After installation finishes, the server is rebooted and after that when it boots. Fails with this message:

Loading system with initrd
Uncompressing Linux…
crc error
– System halted

Normis, as we discussed in early posts (also ref. http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/x86-clock-issue/25395/1) , since 3.5 all IBM servers are unable to boot (in my case, blade HS21XM): I see i am not the only one that have this problem. I have opened several tickets, sent several supout, sent several specifications and chips model numbers, and also offered several analisys of what’s going on. Is there any real will to fix this problem? Many users are avaiable to make any test, also debug tests with serial port: we have a kernel panic soon after boot, so it should be easy for you to catch it with serial debugging (or even with some kind of crash dump). Just let me be in contact with a developer and we can work together to fix it.

Thanks.

I’ve got an IBM x306 (model 8836-I8S). Can boot and install from CD fine but when the server reboots from the HDD I just get the message “Loading” and the server hangs. Tried with both 3.17 and 3.19.

Is it true that none of the IBM servers will run ROS?

My gateway is an IBM x330 Series and I’ve installed ROS on a CF. It’s working very well. It’s not working on SCSI disks!!! Everyone knows that.

Inox: We do all know that ROS do not run on SCSI disks, but as you can read above the servers we use runs with SATA disks directly attached to server motherboard (not RAID cards).

What kind of CF adaptor do you use? Because the x3200 do not have ide interfaces where you can use an ide/cf adaptor.

my server is older, 2xP3 1400Mhz and I use a no name CF adapter and no name CF card chinnese & stuff).

i had the same case with supermicro motherboard.
spec superserver 5015B-MF
MB X7SBI
xeon core 2 quad
2GB ram

for 5 month it run well on ROS 4.6. but after i upgrade to 4.10, the router reboot & hang suddenly. infrequently.
& it printed
“bad crc”

any opinion?
