Router freezes when booting with RS232 Modem attached

Hi all,

I’am trying to setup a modem on a Mikrotik routerboard to do remote control over telcom line. Now i manage to setup the ppp and dialin functions the modem is initializing propperly and everything works, but if i switch off the router and switch it back on the router never loads the OS. There is a orange/red light next to the blue one that never goes off. If i switch the modem off and reboot the router the OS loads and then when i switch the modem on everything works fine but again i cant reboot the router once the modem is on.

Any idea why this is happening

Maybe this issue?

bump

This is fixed in .25, it happens when the console cable is unplugged (or may lose all signals in your case). The router doesn’t freeze, just the console. You can still log in with Winbox. Reboot will reset this console problem.

actually i cant connect via winbox if i boot the router 112 with the modem attached to the serial, it seems as if its froze.

and like the previous guy said the amber light stays lit.

When is .25 coming out? i really needed to set this up this on fail over this weekenend and did not anticipate this problem.

tks

you have to set in BIOS that Setup can be entered with the key and not with ANY KEY. The modem received strange data over serial, sends some back, and routers enters setup. If you tell it to enter setup only by delete key then this will not happen. To do this:

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
RouterBOOT booter 1.13

RouterBoard 112

CPU frequency: 175 MHz
Memory size: 16 MB

Press any key within 1 seconds to enter setup

RouterBOOT-1.13
