router SSTP VPN Client lacks EAP support?

router SSTP client will not connect to known good Windows 2016 Server RRAS. Windows rejects the authentication method.
router end: failed to authenticate ourselves to peer
server 2016 end: Password/username ok but this very clear error messages in event log
The user attempted to use an authentication method that is not enabled on the matching network policy.
Authentication Type: MS-CHAPv2
EAP Type: -
Account Session Identifier: 323039
Logging Results: Accounting information was written to the local log file.
Reason Code: 66

Successful connections from a Windows SSTP client authenticate with this message
Authentication Type: EAP
EAP Type: Microsoft: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)

How do I get my router to support EAP for the SSTP client?
Thanks, John

I’m facing the same issue of MS CHAP v2 not authenticating with WinServer16 RRAS.

Have you found a solution?

Did someone find the solution? I tried allowing unencrypted authentication in the NPS policy, as someone successfully did, but it does not work.
