On my main Mikrotik router I opened the System → Routerboard window and hit upgrade because there was a newer one available. Now I can no longer connect to it. I can’t winbox in, I can’t ssh in, and the web interface using the gateway address times out as well. Sadly, I’m not entirely sure what I did and I’d like to get back into it! Here’s a screenshot of the screen where I made the upgrade. It doesn’t appear to be the firmware upgrade that I’ve done on previous occasions from a different window.
So the router was sending traffic but nothing could connect to it. Winbox doesn’t see it, Netinstall can’t see it. Nodda. I went ahead and tried both factory reset methods in the following post, they didn’t seem to do anything. Could a software update in the screenshot above brick this routerboard that hard?
None of the software tools will even pick up it’s MAC on the network to try and communicate with it. Is it bricked for life? I did pull off the rubber foot to try and factory reset it via the hole with a screwdriver. No dice.
