RouterOS 7.25 released, Winbox 3.43 is over? What about API?

Have just updated my home router to 7.25, and surprised that Winbox 3 in not working anymore :-). Ok, switched to Winbox 4, not a problem.

My question - at my job we are using some Mikrotik API basic scripts to talk to the routers, is this will still work the same way as before?

I'm amazed that this would surprise anyone. It's been discussed forever, and warning given with the 7.25 test releases . . .

(Not sure that a formal EOL was ever published, though . . . )

This change was announced in v7.25beta3 on Sept 3, 2026 making Winbox 4 a requirement with the release of v7.25 stable on October 23, 2026.

This compatibility breaking change took a mere 50 days from first appearance, while the official reason was given in a casual post on October 5, 2026 accompanied by a smile.

That is all you get for a formal EOL notice...

Starting with version 7.22 (March 9, 2026, 10:38 a.m.), using WinBox 3 is not recommended. This is because several bugs have been reported when using it with this and subsequent versions. At that time, the application was also moved to the “Legacy Tools” category on the official website. The discontinuation of WinBox 3 had been announced since the release of version 3.43 in October 2025.
PS MikroTik released the first public beta version of WinBox 4 on August 29, 2024; from that point on, it became clear that support for WinBox 3 would eventually end.
