Newbie question :
Whats the Main function of the scan list ?
Is the default scan list still enabled when you tick it off ?

:open_mouth: where is the scan list ??

Using winbox, it’s interface → wlan → wireless → scan-list
If thats what you ment ?

You should read about wireless in documentation: http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.9/interface/wireless

You can define list of channels to scan.
“default” means all alowed frequencies will be scanned.

Thanks for the link,
I read though the document but didn’t quite find the answer i was looking for.
We had a problem with the bases looping, and we changed the scan list in the AP’s to the same as the clients, seams to have helped a bit.
But i want to know why?

scan list is the list of frequencies that the client will scan when connecting to the AP.

for example if the AP is set to an extraordinary frequency, that is not in the default scan list (scan-list=default-ism) then you can set the scan list of the client to “scan-list=default-ism,6200” and “frequency=6200” and then the client will be able to connect to this ap which uses 6200 (example frequency).

Thanks for the reply.

AP
“Frequency=5620”
“scan-list=5500,5520,5540,5560,5580,5600,5620,5640,5660,5680,5700”

Client
“Frequency=5580”
“scan-list=5500,5520,5540,5560,5580,5600,5620,5640,5660,5680,5700”

But why does the AP need a scan list on the wlan interfaces ?
It souldn’t scan for anything ?
If it dosen’t have the scan-list in it seams that the base loops between it’s wlans
