Send message to all active users

Hi
Is it possible to send a popup message to all active users at the same time. This would be useful in informing logged in clients if a problem arises.

Thanks
Sneakie

Hi
do you mean pop up message on a http browser when users try to surf on the Web. It this is the case you can enable ip-proxy feature on your RouterOS and then force all connection with dst port 80 (for example ) to be redirect to local proxy (in order to have transparent .

hoping this will address your configuration job I’ll wish you a nice day!

http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/mikrotik-advertise-url-with-pppoe-environment/35755/1 deals with showing redirects to users that haven’t paid for their PPPoE accounts. It can easily be adjusted for Hotspots (or even non-authenticated users) but will require a locally reachable web server.

Alternatively, if you’re not using a Hotspot yet you can enable one with an announcement page and no way of logging in. If you are using a Hotspot you can switch HTML directories to an announcement one and log everybody out.
That isn’t recommended if you are using PPPoE, they don’t mix well with Hotspots and combining the two, while possible, isn’t recommended by Mikrotik staff.

i pay my ISP to give me internet conections … not sorry mesages )
if my isp redirect me … i will redirect my payment instantly .

What about when the ISP’s uplinks are all down? Would you rather go absolutely nowhere, or at least see a message explaining the situation, giving status updates and saving you the time to troubleshoot your equipment?

use a call center to explain that …

Sorry, forgot to mention, my hotspot is within an Hotel. It’s a free to guest solution. I might want to inform all active users of expected/planned downtime. As we accomodate up to 400 people at a time, its tricky to get the message out to them via reception.
