Can MikroTik please enumerate which industry standards are the SFP and SFP+ modules built to for all current Router models only.
Let me ask the question another way:
Why does SFP and/or SFP+ have different behaviors on MikroTik Routers that contain these ports?
for example On RB4011 SFP+ does not behave the same way as it does on CCR1009 … etc.
Regardless of which MikroTik Router model should not all SFP and/or SFP+ modules Technically behave exactly the same?
The silence is deafening. … shame!
So what do you expect to get from user forum?
If you think you should get some official answer from MT, then use the well known means of official support: support@mikrotik.com
Yes, but the USER forum needs to have a public response from MikroTik to my IMPORTANT questions because the SFP SFP+ issue is of vital importance especially for users of GPON networks in the USA and Canada.
I guess Mikrotik’s official answer would be in line with information from this page.
Personally I don’t expect MT to run compatibility/certification tests for 3rd party SFP/SFP+ modules, it’s always up to module vendors to test (and guarantee) compatibility with router/switch vendors. I agree that situation is unfortunate because MT is too small player to get attention from larger SFP module vendors. In addition to that different RB devices sometimes act differently with same SFP modules (which is unfortunate for any SFP module vendor willing to certify their modules for use with RB devices).
But I guess it’s either you get attention from MT devs (by placing insanely large purchase) or reconcile yourself to use whatever MT officially supports/sells.
The compatibility page is a red herring and an escape from the real issues:
Another example …
Does the MikroTik hEX S SFP port have the same technical behavior as the SFP port provided in the RB2011?
Why does the HUAWEI MA5671A SFP module WORK in the MikroTik RB2011 SFP port but does not work in the same way on the MikroTik hEX S SFP port?
So if the answer is that you need to send in a support request to fix … THAT is the problem because it’s obvious that each SFP is unique?
Why does the HUAWEI MA5671A SFP module WORK in the MikroTik RB2011 SFP port but does not work in the same way on the MikroTik hEX S SFP port?
What is the same way? Is that a technical description of a problem?
How can someone possibly understand the problem if you never explain it?
Also why don’t you email support ?
