simple queues to control in-router forwarding

I have router with WAN, wireguard and other tunnels to other locations configured on it. There’s simple queue configured to make the set-up more responsive. The different tunnel IPs are in the target list too. When looking at the traffic, it seems the tunnel traffic does not pass via the simple queue.

Before I dig deeper — is the simple queue expected to capture in-router traffic that does not reach clients connected to the LAN ports?
