slow thoughput

Hello, I am pulling my hair out and I am not sure what to do. I have tried so many things so now I am turning to you all.

simple set up here.

100mb fiber → computer I can get 80 to 100 on a speed test.

100mb fiber → RB 1100ah → computer I can get 10 to 12 mb on a speed test

I have tried with completely blank router save for the simple masquerading.

This router has very few nat rules, it has two pppoe gateways and it routes to my wireless network with OSPF.

The issues is no matter what I do, I can not move very much data. I can do a btest though it another router and get ok results but when using any real data it moves like a snail.

I am still learning Mikrotik, but getting better. Any ideas, I am really stumped. I will post anything needed.

Steven

Sounds like an ethernet negotiation issue - does the negotiated speed and duplex for the outbound interface make sense?

Yes, I went though and checked all the negotiation status I get 1Gbps with the Full duplex checked for anything that is gig and 100Mbps Full duplex for anything thats fast ethernet (radios)

my computer (mac mini) is showing 1Gbps.

I did a little test tonight.

I physically disconnected my two radios going out to my network and low and behold I started to get 80 mb on speed test.

I connected my radios back up to my network and before data started flowing I was still getting my good test.

As soon as data started to flow my speed dropped down.

So my network was pulling like 15mbps and I was getting like 10 mbps on my speed test.

So now I think I have something odd ball with ospf config.

what could make OSPF limit data so bad?

Have you got OSPF running in nbma mode - it should be over a wireless link due to multicast issues over wifi. Also, is the wireless link a true WDS bridge? Again it should be.

Also, how many packets are you handling with this router? Are any getting dropped? What is the CPU usage while it is passing data? Can you provide a diagram of your setup so I can help more?

Cheers,
Ade

The router is a routerboard 1100AH, I am sure it can do better then 100mbps, right now if I can get more then 3000pps I am doing good.

I am not seeing any dropped packets. The CPU usage is around 5% to 8%.

its not in nbma mode. My links are true wds bridges. Its all working, the data is moving around the network its just sloooow.

See the attached image. The fiber is connected to 10.10.10.1.

Router 10.10.10.1 has the fiber attached and also my computer and two pppoe connections.

Port 13 is the wan Port 6 is my office computers Port 1 and Port 2 is the link to my main tower.

Did you ever figure this out?

I think I have a similar issue.

Router to 100mb fibre using BW test to another router gets me 50+ megabit.

Customer to router over backbone gets 20 megabit with btest.exe

Customer to fibre BTEST.exe to same off site router gets 3.4 megabit.

Any new info on this? I’m seeing the same behavior. 100Mb fiber connection, BW test between routers maxes it out, but btest on a PC only gets 7-10mb. I’ve been pulling my hair out on this for a while.

I feel like I am having the same issue. Any news for this?

I can do a bandwidth test from my customer’s routers that are PPPOE to me through my wireless network. For example one is queued to 6Mbps down and from the router’s bandwidth test to a Mikrotik router on a 100Mbps circuit gets a solid 6.1Mbps, never wavers. When I do the same btest from a PC on the network behind the Masquerade I get anywhere from .5Mbps to 6Mbps. It is all over the place and usually closers to the .5Mbps and 1Mbps bandwidth. If I open 5-6 tests on that PC it hits the 6Mbps out the internet and around .5Mbps to 1Mbps per test running. Is it the masquerade? This has baffled me for days and is really frustrating to my customers who’s internet is very sporadic on downloads and browsing.

Thanks for any advice or help. PPPOE MTU 1480 and MRU 1480 and the same on the Mikrotik 2011US at the customer site. My other customers are getting the same issue’s on Mikrotik RB751’s using PPPOE to my Mikrotik 1100AH.
