Hi, please i would like to know if there is a way to get SNMP maps from dude with a more varying time like than the weekly monthly and yearly option put. I want to be able to view the graph of particular time ranges in the past as i wish.
AFAIK:
‘Full resolution’ data is not kept, so that makes it impossible to get past data the way you’d want. (Hourly data is consolidated into weekly data (only Dude v3) and then monthly and yearly.)
I usually use Dude to monitor the current status of the network and Cacti to record data history. With Cacti you can browse the time interval u are looking for even of one year ago.
Translation. The dude is lacking a very useful feature that would be easy to implement so I wasted a week of my life setting up a similar program on another server so that I could have my cookies and eat cake too.
All that is needed is 2 things: the ability to control how many samples are collected on data sources and a timestamp field the table, then you could have all the historical data you want.
I hope MT is listening, I am not the only wacko who wants this.
honestly you are not. i was hoping this topic would lead to something like this. So MT o really don’t want to go and learn how to install configure and use cacti. Dude is the best :d. lets keep it that way.
Yeah they could support RRDs in The Dude but use cacti or nmis to populate that information… Also if you have cacti or nmis I highly recommend looking at drraw. Having a dashboard of graphs is really handy for watching cpu or long term bandwidth. Yeah I get sick of configuring all these network tools too
I just want a date stamp and the ability to control the number of samples. Not some other code put in the dude. I am not even trying to graph the info. I just want to be able to run a script that figures 95th percentile (or 99th or average) for a give date range.
The graph function is averaging out the data. Could the dude have a setting to keep the max value instead of average it?
I suppose this should go on the feature request page.
that’s funny, I’ve brought this up a few times and I think I even put it on the Features request page as well. Big downer for such a great program. The two main functions i use the dude for is it’s graphing ability and graphical maps. one of these is near perfect, the other leaves me wanting more.
Tried all of last night attempting to download a windows version of Cacti and ended up with a version that is corrupted,
Has anyone got a working windows version or know where i can download one, also tried to register on forums.cacti.net to tell them problem with win download but it appears that forum have issues with security code confirmation?
