TR-069

Please, post your favorite TR-069 ACS (auto configuration server) software so that we can consider adding support.

Haven’t used it myself yet but going to spin up an instance of GenieACS to give it a try

OpenACS looks to be a bit outdated, LibreACS has more recent work done, tGem also looks promising.

Hi normis,

great that you are adding TR-069 to RouterOS!

I’ve just one request regarding TR-069 support: Please add it in the form of a separate package.

I think there are people out there (including me) that get scared when thinking about TR-069 running on a core router.
It’s fine and necessary on CPE, but I don’t want to have it running or even be available on a router used otherwise.

Thanks for reading.

What could be the use of this TR-069 in MikroTik? Never heard of it before.

Hi,

In short: It’s a remote configuration protocol / engine (in fact it’s not, TR-069 is just the name of the standard released by the broadband forum, but that’s just a detail). An ISP can auto-configure thousands of devices using an ACS (auto configuration server), so TR-069 enabled ISPs to mass deploy devices without the need of service technicians.

On the other hand, it used to be a security vulnerability if not properly implemented on both sides (CPE and ACS).

its quite popular feature among medium and especially BIG, Huge ISP to maintain, enforce CPE configuration integrity and do various other maintenance. its can be (and sometimes would) abused and misused and thats why i think it had to be implemented within separated package, just like how we’re had NTP or DHCP today and other stuff.

AXESS.ACS from Axiros!

Hello Normis,
TR-069 support might be enabled on Router OS regardless of the ACS in use by your users.
In fact, being a standard, TR-069 requires that clients might communicate with any server and viceversa.
However, some interoperability is always required in the end.

I would be happy to discuss with you how to help your possible initiative on adding TR-069 support on RouterOS.

We see interesting potential in the Enterprise and Local WISP segments worldwide in having Mikrotik devices TR-069 ready.

Hi guys,
Is there any update about TR-069 support in RouterOS?

It was already added. At least somehow. See the change log and try yourself…

Axiros and Friendly Tech have been verified to be working. TR-069 support already exists in the latest 6.38 RC
