Hi so I recently got the LTE 6 router/dish and I am happy with it so far, I currently can connect to two different band 3 masts and one band 20 mast , I’m able to force 4G+ between band 3 and 20 without issue and it shows LTE ca2 when I check those. But how can I make it connect to two band 3 masts? It only seems to connect to a singular band 3 mast , never two The band 20 mast is so heavily loaded its not even worth using thats why I want to try get the two band 3 ones to work. here are the two that are available.
it randomly swaps between both, apparently three (my ISP) enabled carrier aggregation between these two , (three bought o2 so its two different masts)
It’s not possible due to many reasons, one is that it’s not defined in 3GPP standards. It is possible to have 2CA intra-band, but operator has to use two carriers with different frequencies within same band and AFAIK that’s only possible (standardized) in B7 (2.6GHz).
Besides, inter-eNodeB CA is late addition to standards and not every vendor / operator supports it. Which is apparently not the problem in your case as both cells are run by came eNodeB (same eNB Id). However the screenshots show different “current operator” ID which might indicate that both cells actually belong to different networks (27205 being H3G)? If that’s so, modem likely won’t use the other network, technically that would be roaming (even if H3G now owns both networks).
Keep in mind that in order to use some feature, both network and client device have to support it.
At least from what I was told, supports carrier aggregation between these 2 carriers on band 3 and the reason it’s possible between the former O2 and Three sites is that the Three site operates on a different band 3 frequency, i.e. EARFCN 1700, which is 1855MHz and the other EARFCN 1275 is 1812.5MHz.
Another thing to note, not sure if relevant but there is only one band 20 mast in range, And I am able to use carrier aggregation on that band 20 mast with either of the two band 3 ones. I just don’t know how to get it to work between the two band 3 ones if it was possible like it apparently is and it is the case in other places in this country unless for some reason they don’t support it in this area. And as for the roaming thing, 3G requires roaming to be enabled on all devices on three’s network probably for that reason to connect to the former o2 masts.
I suggest you to email support@mikrotik.com with explicit question whether R11e-LTE6 (I guess that’s the modem mounted in your device) supports “CA of non-contigous B3+B3” …
Used frequency sub-bands, used by H3G in your neighbourhood, are not contigous (i.e. there’s a gap between both sub bands). And @uldis wrote that R11e-LTE6 doesn’t support non-contigous intra-band CA.
So, no, there’s no way of making R11e-LTE6 work the way it would suit you the best as the hardware can’t do it.
When one band have e.g. 80Mhz BandWidth then this can be div via few ISP…
In Poland B3 1800Mhz is div for many ISP and only T-Mobile have 3xBandWidth (10+2+7Mhz) but in reality this is never detected via any LTE modems and only earfcn:1599 is used in LTE
Oh well thats unfortunate :c , I have one other issue I didnt have with another device with worse signal. The ping has a lot of deviation/jitter on all bands 3G/4G, and the signal readings are much better than the previous device I had. I’m not too familiar with mikrotik routerOS yet , I feel like i might be missing some settings or something. Also when using the discord voice client, it’ll go from 40ms to 200-300 and back down again, in games it does the same thing but not as severe, its most notable when using voip on discord, the discord client ping would spike but my ingame ping would still be okay in comparison. If there’s anything someone might think of , would appreciate it) thanks for the clarification on the carrier aggregation , not much I can do about that.
