Unable to ping another computer on same network

Hi - Just completed installing a brand new RB2011 (non-wireless) router. I went with the default config and everything seems to be working except for this one issue. I have a hardware switch connected to the ether3 port (which is switched to master ether2 internally, as per default). I have computers connected to the hardware switch that cannot see each other. I am not able to ping any of them from any other one. However, I am able to ping another computer that is directly connected to ether5 port on the router. I suspect something in the router is blocking the traffic from one computer to another on the hardware switch. The reason I say this is all of this used to work fine before I switched the router to RB2011. Can any of you gurus help with guiding me on what needs to be corrected in the default config?

Thanks.

Did u create a bridge interface ?

It is most likely the firewall on the computers. Did you change the Network Connection from Public to Private?

Appreciate your reply. Nothing has changed on the computers from before, when I was able to see the computers connected to the switch. The only change in the scenario is this new router that is connected to a hardware switch. I actually turned off the windows and the third party firewall on both computers and still have the same issue. This is why I suspect the firewall rules that came set up preconfigured with the Routeros or something else in the router. Don’t know what and I am afraid to touch anything.

When you connected the computers to the new Router, they will see that they have a new connection and set the connection to Public. This will re-enable the firewall.

Traffic from a computer to another computer connected to the same switch will not reach the router for it to have an influence.

Thanks again for your insight. I will take a look when I am back home and confirm.

Much appreciated.

Just wanted to post back to let you know that your suggestion helped. I changed the network to Private and I was able to connect to my other computers on LAN,

Thanks again.
