Understanding L3 vs L4 license

Hi,

I’m trying to compare L3 and L4 licenses based on information in wiki: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:License

Everything seems to be quite clear, there is a nice summary table of the differences. However, then I found out that ap-bridge mode is supported only with L4 or higher, as documented here: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Wireless_AP_Client

How is this clear from https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:License ? I would like to learn to read the page correctly so that I can identify any other differences..

Other differences between L3 x L4 License

  • Level 3 it is not possible to purchase this license separately; it is already installed in CPE.
  • If you use the “Portal Captive” Hotspot, only 1 customer can authenticate.
  • UserManager accepts only 10 sessions
  • It is possible to buy a Level 4 License and replace it on the router with Level 3. But don’t forget the hardware limitations.
