unicast key exchange timeout

I have a RB951-2n acting as an AP. Works fine.

Recently I bought a new Samsung phone, and I wanted to connect via WiFi to the router. After entering the password, I was “kicked out” by Samsung, and could not connect.

When I used my PC to connect (works fine through WiFi), I checked the log. I see it is connected, and 5 seconds later it disconnects with “unicast key exchange timeout”. And that happens every time.

I did not know what it was, so I Googled it. Not much to find, only “old” topics (2008) about this problem in pre 5.25 version of the OS. This AP was running 5.25, so I immediately updated to 6.2. No difference.

What can this be? Hardware incompability? In the attachment you can see the screenshot.

P.S. All existing topics about the unicast problem have issues with iOs of Apple. This is a Samsung with Android 4.1

Which Samsung phone is it and what are the WLAN settings on the Routerboard?

The Samsung is a Samsung DUOS. GT-S6312 (a model with 2 SIM cards). It can do 2,4 GHz b/g/n. At home it works perfectly with a Ubiquity AP.

The setup in the AP I do not know exactly now. For sure it is WPA2-AES. I will look into it this Sunday (the AP is located in a church). Maybe earlier.

Problem solved.

It was an “operator error”. I entered the wrong password. The password consisted the letter “l” as in lamp, bit it was also very similar to a capital “I” as in India. Very strange that Mikrotik does not show a different error message than “unicast key exchange timeout”.

Is a more simpeler message like “Failed to authenticate user. Wrong password supplied”… easier to understand?
