Unknown IP address on ether1

Just updated my hap ac2 from 7.1 to 7.3beta37, now I do not get any internet it says unknown IP address on ether1
Tried re booting router and modem, tried a quick start nothing is working

There’s no such error on RouterOS “unknown IP address”.

There you are unknown ip

Oh, you have detect-internet enabled.
Welp, you’re on your own with that.
Check the config though.

All I did was update os never touched anything else

Really wish I hadn’t bothered updating os now

Disable Internet Detect to start with.
What IP do you get assigned on eth1?
What does the logging say?
Why did you upgrade?

Forget Quick start (it’s only for the…quick start). After initial setup, only use the app (or better, use Winbox or the Web GUI).

If you can post the config of the router, it would help some to investigate.

Just upgraded because it said there was an update.
Do not know where to find eth1 IP address turned off detect

If I knew how to I would

If I say: jump in the water…

Do not know where to find eth1 IP address turned off detect

Found through Google search

https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Detect_internet

I turned off detect, but I don’t know what eth1 ip is

Hint: use Google (yourself) please

or use the search on the Wiki/help pages

(oh boy, this is going to be a funny one …)

Apart from the message (which seems to come from Detect Internet, something most people never turn on), is there actually something not working with that router ?
Can’t you use Wifi ?
Is Internet not reachable ?
Downloads not working ?

I think you’re using the Mikrotik Home app ??
Move over to Mikrotik app, it will show you a lot more info.

BETTER OPTION:
If you REALLY want to manage that device and see what’s going on, I suggest you access it from a PC/MAC using Webfig or Winbox.
Otherwise you’re only going to see half of the story (if even that).

No kidding, MT apps are not Ver7 ready.

Yes and no.
Some things will not work, most will (at least on the Android version, which is what I use).
Don’t try to setup a wireguard interface using that app, then you’ll be stuck for sure

But that’s why I also suggested a BETTER option.

I have tried using web fig on pc still had no internet, I get a Wi-Fi signal but nothing works no internet coming.
My public IP address has changed now
Everything was working fine all I did was upgrade os nothing else now it doesn’t connect to internet

If you are able to connect to webfig, go to right-top part which says “terminal”
Type: /export show-sensitive file=becauseanavsaidso

Go back to Webfig part, section Files
Download the file “becauseanavsaidso.rsc” to your PC.

Open that file in your favorite text editor, review the file to check if some passwords or sensitive info are left (serial number is also one of them). Replace with or something like that.
THEN post contents of the edited file here between [__code] quotes so we can have a look at your config.

And to be very honest, all this info I just provided, is readily available when you look for it.
I have the feeling you’re not really willing to look for yourself. Which makes me wonder if such a device is suitable for you …

Hi Spoonsy1480, no problem!

To post your config do like this using the web interface:

  1. Push the [TERMINAL]-button up in the right corner
  2. At the prompt ("> ") type: > export hide-sensitive file=hapac2-konf
  3. Switch to [WebFig] up in the right corner
  4. Choose menu “Files”, locate “hapac2-konf.rsc” and push “download”
  5. Upload/paste the content of file “hapac2-konf.rsc” in this thread

Please, do not blame the end user. This is clearly evidence that MT is not finished packaging the product for sale in the consumer market.

Be nice and gentle to someone still learning how the darn gadget is working. We’ve all been there sometime..
