You also need to upgrade the ROS to 4.0beta3. Older versions do not support 802.11n cards.
Can you ping the internet from your routerboards? If not, assign then IP addresses to them and put a gateway for that network on your router. We assign private networks to our bridged radio groups and each radio has an IP address in that group. You need that for upgrades and monitoring.
i am glad i made you laugh but the fact of the matter is i am not too keen on the routerboard operating system and wireless stuff as much as you. i am still learning.
i also find the ros very lacking in documentation. i mean this isnt like a regular os where i can buy a book online or whatever and learn it… its ever chaging.
the wiki is all and great but i am afraid i am seeing the only way to learn is to ask 100000 questions on these forums and try to attend the MUM …
ok well i worked around this by adding a pppoe client account …
next question is: you said goto System → License → Upgrade key…
i put in my username for http://www.mikrotik.com and password then i select my license level . i left the server box alone, . but the next option is Pay method …whatever i select i get an error with…
if i select Credit keys it says :: Not enough Credit keys
if i select deposit it says:: You do not have enough deposit money!
if i select Prepaid keys it says:: Not enough prepaid keys.
that router has old license. when license is updated, then you only see SoftID in form of ‘XXXX-YYYY’, not ‘XXXX-ZZZ’, and when you press ‘Update License’ button, it says that it’s already updated
