upgrade from V6 to V7 question for ccr1036

Hi

I wanted to upgrade my CCR1036-8G-2S+ to V7. Notice the should have 64G memory, but also read that it works on the the tiles.
I went ahead any way, I am using this to get my config upgraded to V7 so that I can then move it to a newer model

every thing looks okay but /file is not working
I have upgrade the /routerboard firmware to 7, still at v6 because I might want to roll back to v6
i have 4 partitions on my /part

or
is there a place I can upload my v6 config and have it turn into v7 config ?

I think Recent versions of Ros V7 don’t have the upgrade from V6 conversion functionality any more.

If you upgrade in the Gui from a very recent V6 to V7, it should offer you one of the V7.12.x ROS’s.
This does have upgrade functionality, (and also sets up for wireless)

From 7.12.x you can upgrade to the most recent.
And likely on a CCR uninstall the wireless package that gets installed via this upgrade path.

The conversion is sort of ok, but there are lots of things that need more than syntax changes.

eg.
Scripting, date formats.
Routing changes, rule table now runs after route marked processing, vrf’s.
ospf changes.

I would be getting exports in V6, and again in V7 and comparing, and also probably a lot of testing.

Also at some late stage, reset configuration, and applying your working V7 scripts is possibly wise.

thanks.

seems like the /file system came back

now just looking at some bgp connections not coming up

I have a v6 ibgp working and now with v7 it will not come up ..

sounds like I need to look at my build scripts and convert them to v7 and just build from scratch

do you know is it support to run v6 but with routerboard firmware v7

I am not sure where you got that idea. Please read the docs, which explicitly state the following:

In most RouterOS setups that run fine with the aforementioned v6 versions, no extra steps are required. Upgrading to v7 will automatically convert the configuration and your device will function right away.

…and also…

The routing protocol configuration upgrade is triggered only once. This means that if a router was downgraded to ROSv6, the configuration was modified and the router got upgraded back to ROSv7, then the resulting configuration is the one that was present before the downgrade. To re-trigger v6 configuration conversion, load ROSv6 backup with the option force-v6-to-v7-configuration-upgrade=yes.
