I have a second hand MT router OS on a PC that I bought second hand. I don’t know if it’s still upgradable and don’t know about the licence. If I tried to upgrade what would be the consiquence if the system was outside it’s upgrade time? Would it simply reject the upgrade or could it cause a problem trying?
try /system license print to view license upgrade time…if you upload to router new packages, upgrade will be done and if your upgrade time is over, router will work only 24 hours…
The second part is not correct. If you upload new packages to a router which is out of its’ upgrade period and reboot it, it simply refuses to upgrade and will continue to run the previous version without any time limit.
You can see it didn’t upgrade as
a) the package files still are there on the router (after a successful upgrade they get deleted) and
b) the router is stating the license problem in the system log.
