I have been struggling trying to come up with a solution for my home network that prioritizes (not just limits bandwidth used) my VOIP network extender when downloading via NZBget and utorrent. I have an ASUS router and have tried Tomato, DDWRT, and stock firmware, without any success. I’ve tried all different configurations, but I still experience significant voice distortion when a torrent or nzb is downloading. The QOS features of these router firmwares only seem to set bandwidth limits on certain activities, not prioritize packets of information to avoid voice distortion w/ VOIP. I recently stumbled across this link (http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/using-routeros-to-qos-your-network-2020-edition/66683/1) which discusses setting up RouterOS to prioritize VOIP traffic. Could anyone give me an indication whether investing in a routerBOARD or PC running RouterOS would solve my VOIP issues when simultaneously running NZB/utorrent?
does anybody have an answer?
