I’m considering adding a new WAP and was wondering if the wap AX is the way to go.
And, if it’s available somewhere? I checked a couple of distributors and none are in stock.
Also, do I understand correctly that it is omnidirectional (azimuth 360 degrees)?
YES!
I have replaced a wAP ac (outside) and a cAP AX (inside) with the wAP AX. Can see any difference inside, the connection is stable (which is most important to me) and the wife is also happy (by the looks in comparison with the cAP AX).
It is available (at least in Europe), where do you live?

I'm in the US, but I would prefer a non-US model so it is not limited.
The brochure says it has a 360* radiation pattern, but I have a vague recollection of reading that it was directional.
