WDS vs EOIP for PtP link

Hi,

what is the difference between bridging LANs over point to point link using WDS and EOIP? What are pros and cons of these two protocols?

I have 2,5 km point to point link, bridging over EOIP, wireless Atheros 2511, turbo mode, 54 Mbps tx and rx - but the troughput is 12Mbps half duplex. I use RB220, cpu load comes up to 98% when traffic reach 12Mbps in total. Would it be better to use WDS for this?

we are using WDS for a point to point link that is 1.2 miles. Our throughput is 13megs not using turbo mode and setting the basic rates between 6-18megs. When i ran the bandwidth-test the link was set to 18Mbps and the cpu was at about 98%.

You should leave the basic-rate at the lowest rate – the default. Playing with this may only help on links that have a perfect connection and it won’t help enough to warrant it.

John

basic rate is 6Mbps, 54 is the speed that RB220 connects to each other.

What is the basic difference between these protocols when used for bridging?
